Crimeware

Crimeware is software designed specifically to enable illegal activity online, typically financial crime. The term was coined to distinguish such applications from other kinds of malicious software.

Crimeware uses social engineering or technical deception to access users' online accounts at financial institutions and online retailers in order to make unauthorized transactions.

Crimeware can install stealth keyloggers that capture sensitive data and transmit them to unauthorized third parties. It can also redirect a user's browser to a fraudulent site, even when the user enters the correct domain name in the address bar.
