Bundling is the practice of including multiple hardware or software products in a package. A legitimate example of Bundled software is Microsoft Office Suite, which Bundles Word, Excel, Visio, etc. Such bundling adds value to hardware, and is a key component of hardware manufacturers' strategy for attracting consumers. In some cases, the Bundled software is more valuable than the hardware. Less desirable to the user, Adware and Spyware are Bundled with shareware and freeware. When accepting the "free" software, users are also agreeing, unknowingly, to accept the Adware and Spyware. Because of Adware, users have become more suspicious of Bundled software. Rather than hiding Adware, rogue programmers may label it as a software feature or upgrade. For example, a program that claims to enhance or accelerate the browsing experience could be adding advertising to the browsing experience. |
