Badware

Badware (BAD softWARE) is a general term used to describe malicious software (Malware) that monitors a user's online behavior and transmits data back to unauthorized third parties. Spyware, Adware, Crimeware, deceptive Malware and other indisputably unwanted software threats are collectively known as Badware. Badware typically is installed without the user's informed consent. It can be downloaded in stealth from a Web site or bundled with freeware, such as games and screensavers.

Examples of common Badware include FunCade, Jessica Simpson Screensaver, UnSpyPC and Winfixer.

In addition to delivering annoying Pop-up ads, information gathered by Badware tracking can be used for identity theft or other fraudulent activities.
